This page will explain how Conjointly manages its relationship with survey respondents, outlines your rights as a research participant, and describes our data handling practices when you participate in studies through our platform.
What is your legal relationship with Conjointly?
Conjointly is a market research platform. We are typically used by companies and organisations to conduct surveys and gather insights from respondents like you. Your survey answers are greatly appreciated and help our clients make informed decisions based on the data collected.
Conjointly typically acts in two different capacities in relation to respondents:
- When we run the research, we act as a data controller, meaning we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data.
- Consent screen: You will see a consent screen at the beginning of the survey asking for your permission to process your data by Conjointly. If you are taking multiple surveys in one session, you may see this screen only once per session. If you decline the consent, you will not be able to proceed with the survey.
- Who is responsible for your data subject rights: We will be responsible for ensuring that your data is processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Australian Privacy Act 1988. You can contact our team on participants@conjointly.com.
- When our users run the research on Conjointly and do not procure us to orchestrate survey invitations, we act as a data processor. You may receive an email invitation from a client or a research panel, either one of which is the relevant data controller in this case.
- Consent screen: You will not see a consent screen presented by us, because the data controller (the client or research panel) is responsible for obtaining your consent or rely on some other basis for data processing.
- Who is responsible for your data subject rights: You should still be able to exercise your rights as a respondent. You should make contact with the data controller. Typically, you can contact them via the party who sent you the invitation to complete the survey (e.g. a survey panel app or whoever maintains the email list from which you receive the invitation to complete a survey).
Issues on the platform
If you experience an issue or a bug on the platform, we will appreciate if you can report it by email us on participants@conjointly.com. Please include the URL (web address) of the survey you were taking, a description of the issue, and any relevant screenshots. We will do our best to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Issues with compensation for survey participation
In most cases:
- We do not handle incentives or compensation for survey participation directly and do not have means to issue compensation.
- Instead, it is handled by the party who invited you to the take part in the survey.
- In case of any problems with compensation, you should contact the party who sent you the invitation to complete the survey (e.g. a survey panel app or whoever maintains the email list from which you receive the invitation to complete a survey).
However, in some cases where we promise compensation to you directly or when we act as a data controller, we may be able to assist you with compensation questions.
Issues with the survey content
If you find the content of a survey objectionable, please feel free to report it to us by email us on participants@conjointly.com.
If the content violates our Acceptable Use Policy, we will take appropriate action, which may include removing the survey or blocking the user who created it.
The Participant Bill of Rights
In addition to complying with the relevant legislation, Conjointly acknowledges the rights of all participants in the research process and adheres to the standards established by the Insights Association’s Participant Bill of Rights. To review your rights as a research participant, please access the Participant Bill of Rights document directly.
