The accessibility functions of the Conjointly respondent-facing pages
The Conjointly platform is accessible to individuals with disabilities and supports all major assistive technologies (with some exceptions; refer to the Known limitations section for details).
Screen reader compatibility:
- The platform is compatible with standard screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, etc.), allowing text-based content to be read aloud clearly and efficiently.
Keyboard navigation:
- The platform supports keyboard navigation (with limitations), allowing users to easily navigate and interact with content without the use of a mouse.
- All interactive elements such as buttons, links, and forms can be operated solely via keyboard inputs (Tab, Enter, arrow keys) with limitations.
Focus indicator:
- A visible and distinct focus indicator is available to clearly highlight active elements during keyboard navigation, enhancing ease of use and orientation.
Voice recognition software compatibility:
- The platform is compatible with voice recognition software, enabling users to navigate and input information using voice commands.
Subtitles and transcripts:
- While videos and audio content currently do not include embedded subtitles or transcripts, the platform supports browser-based live captioning tools to assist users with hearing impairments.
Adjustable text and zoom:
- Users can adjust browser zoom levels without loss of content clarity or functionality.
Clear layout and structure:
- Content is structured logically with clear headings, labels, and instructions, simplifying navigation for users with cognitive impairments.
How to activate accessibility features:
Accessibility features are active by default, requiring no additional settings. Simply use your preferred assistive technology to interact with the platform.
Please ensure your assistive software is active and properly configured for optimal performance.
Known limitations
Despite best efforts to ensure accessibility of the Conjointly respondent-facing pages, there are some limitations which the Conjointly team is actively addressing. Below is a description of the known limitations of the respondent-facing pages. Please contact Conjointly if you require support while accessing the platform or if you observe an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for the Conjointly respondent-facing pages:
- Resize text: The respondent interface currently does not provide built-in functionality for resizing text independent of browser controls. To increase legibility, respondents can enlarge content using the native browser functionality.
- Captions for videos and text transcripts for audios: There are videos and audios that do not have media alternative or audio descriptive; however, the platform seamlessly supports browser-based live captioning tools to effectively assist users with hearing impairments or those preferring text-based information.
- Animations: Some study pages contain animations that cannot be paused, stopped, or hidden.
- Interactive elements: Due to respondent quality assessment, interaction with most interactive elements is performed using a mouse.
- Form fields: Some form fields do not have connected labels.
- Bypass blocks: Skip links do not exist on the pages.
- Colour schemes: While a small number of UI elements may currently exhibit lower contrast levels, continuous refinements are being made to reduce the number of such elements.
Survey customisability and accessibility
Conjointly provides extensive customisation options for surveys. Through the use of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, Conjointly’s users have full flexibility to tailor survey interfaces precisely to their needs. This customisation capability also allows users to effectively address unique accessibility requirements, ensuring surveys can be made fully inclusive and responsive to diverse respondent needs.
